Mr Dharmendra Kumar (popularly known as Dharma), an ultra-marathon runner and Co-founder of Proton Sports is on a cross-country run in India since 15 March 2019. He aims to feed five lakh school meals to Akshaya Patra beneficiaries in 15,024 schools of India. So far, Mr Kumar has been able to raise funds to feed 1 lakh school meals from this charity run. The Ultra Marathon runner, on his way back to Punjab crossed Delhi on the eve of the World Hunger Day (observed on 28 May 2019).

In conversation with the reporters, Mr Kumar said, "I was surprised at the severity of the hunger crisis in India. With so many people unable to afford a square meal, I think this is one of the problems which need immediate attention. Akshaya Patra is doing a good job serving food to children. Even Gurudwaras are known for langars and how they feed so many people every day. Drawing parallels from this, I thought it would be an apt cause to associate with."

Expressing gratitude on the occasion, Mr. Sundeep Talwar - Chief Marketing Officer, The Akshaya Patra Foundation said, "We are glad to associate with Mr. Kumar to spread the word on hunger-free India and encourage young and skilled individuals to support our cause."
